Girraween National Park

As far as National Parks go, Girraween National Park is pretty incredible! Often it can be hard to find walking tracks that are suitable for little kids and although there are plenty of inappropriate tracks with some breathtaking views and sights, there are also some really easy walks that the kids will love! The Park is located 260km south-west of Brisbane and the drive is well worth it. We decided to check it out because our 4 year old is a bit of a Rock enthusiast. Everywhere we go he collects little rocks, big rocks, shiny and dull rocks and each one is more beautiful then the last to him. So we wanted to take him somewhere entirely made of rocks! We completed the easiest of the walks as our oldest kids are still quite young and we wanted to make sure the clingy one wouldn't just ask to be carried the whole way. Luckily she was having far too much fun to ask and it was a success. The baby was in a carrier as it was not at all pram friendly and the 3 & 4 year old were able to navigate the track quite easily. Please note you still want to keep the kids within reach at most times as the ground is uneven and there are edges they could fall down. The Preschoolers thought this was the best walk ever, Lots of wide (but very uneven) rocks to walk across, as well as angled rocks to climb and giant boulders to look at or pretend to push, as well as water holes and flowers galore. The adults really enjoyed this walk as well, being in nature but not being bitten by bugs constantly was a nice change, and the big boulders were really cool to look at. The drive to and around this park was such a scenic and relaxing drive as well. I highly recommend this place for a visit if you have active adventurous kids. IMPORTANT: Obviously you know your own children best but in my personal opinion this track is best for a strapped to you baby or a walking, stable 3 year plus year old. If your child is happy to be in a backpack carrier then a 2 year old would be fine but I would never expect any of my kids under 3 to walk this track safely unless they held my hand. The essentials - Toilets (At the picnic spot) Kids had a blast Parking was easy BBQs and tables/chairs
