Burrum Heads is about three and a half hours drive north of Brisbane and approximately half an hour from Hervey Bay in the Fraser Coast Region. This sleepy slow paced town is a gorgeous change of scenery and pretty good for small kids. There are no crowds, no big waves and low tide gives you a whole lot of open play area perfect for sandcastles and kicking a ball. We saw some little crabs which ensured excited squeals and the water was warm and inviting. Although fishing is not really toddler appropriate it can be a great activity for slightly older kids and this spot is a fishing paradise. The town has a lovely mix of beach shacks and newer homes, there is a jetty for boating and easy roads to drive around. As for food...you can grab some fish and chips at "A taste of Burrum" If you wish to stay a while you can camp on the Burrum River and explore many beautiful picnic spots surrounded by paperbark tress. Overall it is quite a lovely spot for the kids to run wild and enjoy a peaceful beach play.
